
Nang K’uulas
Nang Ḵ’uulas Patrick Shannon is a Haida filmmaker, storyteller, and creative leader from Skidegate, Haida Gwaii.
With over two decades of experience in film, photography, and design, Patrick has built a career at the intersection of art and community. He is best known for directing the 2025 feature documentary Saints and Warriors, a Leo Award–winning film honoured for Best Direction and multiple nominations, as well as the Colin Low Award for Best Canadian Director at DOXA. The film has screened to acclaim across North America, earning standing ovations and cementing his reputation as one of BC’s most exciting new directors.
Beyond film, Patrick has spent over a decade teaching Indigenous social entrepreneurship as a university instructor with the University of Victoria and Indigenous youth media facilitator with N’we Jinan and InnoNative EDU. He has been named Young Entrepreneur of the Year (BC Aboriginal Business Awards) and recognized internationally as a top cultural innovator by Ashoka Changemakers and the Salzburg Global Seminar. He also co-founded the world’s first all-Indigenous modelling agency Supernaturals, and community-driven initiatives Haida Gwaii Media Collective and the Precious Culture Society.
Patrick’s work is guided by Indigenous values, collaboration, and self-determination. His vision is to tell unforgettable stories while ensuring Indigenous communities have the tools, talent, and infrastructure to tell their own.
